Dear Dioji Members & Friends,
When we created Dioji K-9 Resort & Athletic Club, we never expected to have cats and guinea pigs come through our doors. However, when the Jesusita Fire hit, this is exactly what happened. Due to the support and help of many, we were able to house 70 dogs, 30 cats and 2 guinea pigs for those evacuated. Thank you to our members, staff and volunteers!!
All of us at Dioji want to thank our wonderful members for donating crates, blankets and various other items so we could better help the evacuated families. We also thank you for your understanding when scheduled baths/massages could not be given since our bathing facility had turned into a cattery.
We cannot thank our amazing team at Dioji enough. We are so proud of the Dioji family on a daily basis for their dedication and compassion but when the fire hit and the evacuees started coming through our doors, proud doesn’t begin to say how we felt. Our team worked tirelessly to provide the around the clock care necessary to take in and care for animals during the middle of the night as new evacuation orders were given. Most of all the love and reassurance they gave to our new guests to calm them during this difficult time was touching.
With so many extra animals, the help of the dozens of volunteers who came to take the animals out throughout the day, change litter, wash food & water bowls and lend supplies made it possible for us to shelter these additional animals.
Thank you to each and every one of you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the Jesusita Fire.
Best Regards,
Bryce Wendel, Jeannie Wendel & Susan Vasquez
